DJ SAPHYR's journey
In 1996, at 16, apprentice carpenter. Money went toward gear and vinyl. First one: a Gemini XL-DD20. Then came the Korg D8, the Technics SH-DJ1200 mixer, the Technics SL-1200 MK2s, the Shure SM58, the Ortofon Concorde Nightclub E. Each piece bought over time — work, opportunities, a few DMC championships.
From a janitor's room, the first recordings: mixes, groups, rappers. With whatever was at hand.
This site gathers what's left from that time: mixtapes, recordings, some traces of groups like L'Undercover, DJs like DJ Pray' One. Family too (the brother, the mother). The sound carries the marks of time — worn tapes, tape that's lived. It is what it is.
A few names, not to make a list — just for the record. Les Spécialistes, Mo'Vez Lang, Les Fauves, Drama, AK 47, les 9 Mercenaires... DJs like Rob Swift (X-Men), Sya Styles, Ralph, Pose, Wiz'Back. Busta Flex too, from the Génération 88.2 days. There were those who waited in the courtyard, when things weren't quite ready yet, when it still needed work. The sessions at Pray'One's. These aren't features. They're handshakes, cassettes passed between hands... Simplicity with nothing expected in return.
There was also Génération 88.2 (Radio), DMC championships, sessions under other aliases shared among friends. A few VST plugins were developed. What can be recovered will be added. The rest will stay where it is.
